Sustainability
At Marina & Pau we understand sustainability as the compatibility of economic and social growth with environmental conservation through a balanced increase in productivity (producing more, consuming fewer resources and generating less waste) in order to improve the quality of life of both present and future generations. To this end, we have decided to focus our efforts on the following SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT objectives promoted by the UNITED NATIONS.
At Marina & Pau, we are committed to sustainability through various actions that seek to reduce our environmental impact and support the local economy:
- Energy-efficient LED luminaires: We have replaced traditional luminaires with LEDs, which reduces energy consumption and carbon footprint.
- Energy Efficient Machinery: We invest in efficient machinery that optimizes the use of resources and reduces operating costs.
- Promoting Local Economy: We support local suppliers, reducing transportation emissions and strengthening the regional economy.
- Waste Materials Recycling: We implemented a recycling system for plastics, paper, cardboard and fabric clippings, promoting the circular economy.
- Reduction of Single-Use Plastics: Minimize the use of single-use plastics through recyclable containers and packaging.
These actions reinforce our commitment to the environment, the local economy and long-term sustainability.
END POVERTY. As a private sector company, being the engine of economic growth, we promote economic opportunities for people with fewer resources by focusing on the segments of the economy where most of these people work, micro and small businesses, and those operating in the informal economy.
HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. Ensuring a healthy life and promoting well-being at all ages as one of the essential objectives for sustainable development. We develop products adapted for all ages without substances harmful to health according to current regulations and as a non-pharmacological therapy to improve the emotional state of people affected by some type of dementia.
DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH. We promote development-oriented corporate policies that support productive activities, the creation of decent jobs, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation. From the outset, we have taken measures to eradicate forced labor, protect labor rights and promote a safe and secure working environment for all workers. Our goal is to progressively improve our production and the efficient consumption of our resources.
REDUCTION OF INEQUALITIES. We advocate equal opportunities and adopt wage and social protection policies to progressively achieve greater equality in all our workplaces.
RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION. Through internal plans, we have considerably reduced waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse plans. 80% of our suppliers are considered Km 0 or proximity suppliers, as they are located within a radius of less than 50 km. We annually contribute the economic cost of placing our packaging on the market for its recovery, recycling and reuse. We are committed to the use of organic materials for the dolls’ clothing.
PARTNERSHIPS TO ACHIEVE OBJECTIVES. We are part of several regional and national business associations that, among other objectives, implement investment promotion schemes in favor of less developed countries and the improvement of regional and international North-South cooperation.
